Datasets and Data Connectors

Currently, Einblick supports the following sources for new datasets:

  • Databases
    • MySQL
    • Postgres
    • Oracle
    • Snowflake
    • BigQuery
    • Vertica
    • SQLite
    • Athena*
    • Redshift*
    • SQL Server*
  • Uploads
    • CSV
    • S3 Buckets
  • External
    • Google Sheets

* Your Einblick Admin may need to enable this type of dataset for you. Please reach out to with any connection issues, or if you do not see your DBMS listed.

CSVs and Google Sheets can be added in one step through the dataset menu:

To create a SQL or S3 dataset, you first need to setup a data connector. To do so, select the appropriate option from the data connector menu:

You'll then see a form to fill out. For example, this is the form for a MySQL data connector:

After saving this MySQL data connector, you'll then be able to create datasets using this connector. By selecting "create SQL dataset" from the dataset menu, you'll see this form:

The resulting dataset will consist of the data returned by a SQL query of the database that the data connector connects to.
